About the Role

As a Marketing Intern, you’ll be at the forefront of the growth and success of one of our local successful agencies. This Internship offers not just exposure, but hands-on experience in marketing, client interaction, and the sales process within a collaborative office environment. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who will not only mentor you but also empower you with valuable insights into the insurance industry and the role of an agent, ensuring you’re well-prepared for your future career.

Key Learning Opportunities

  • Direct client interaction and customer service experience.

  • Exposure to the agency sales process, including joint field work with agents and managers.

  • Training in underwriting and rating policies across property, casualty, and life insurance.

  • Participate in agency meetings, networking events, and marketing initiatives.

  • Mentorship from seasoned employees, agents, and agency managers.

Education and Experience

Must currently be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word; willingness to learn other online solutions.

  • Self-motivated, coachable, and collaborative with a strong work ethic.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in both written and verbal communication

Location & Commitments

  • Based at a local agency (typically near your university or college).

  • 10-week, part-time internship. Flexible schedule, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

  • Will need to attend a 40-hour week-long training class in Raleigh during the internship.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Learn and assist in each role within the agency (customer service rep, Associate Agent, Agent)

  • Learn and directly assist in the sales process, which includes prospecting, appointment setting, assisting in sales meetings, and processing new businesses and changes to policies.

  • Assisting the team in administrative tasks and general workflow.

  • Participating and contributing in sales meetings, marketing opportunities, and networking activities.

  • Interacting with clients in multiple customer service and sales capacities, which would include quoting and rating policies.

  • Telephone techniques and comprehensive sales training.
